Jessie and I took a trip to the Ridges in Athens last Sunday. We were able to get into the old TB ward with very little effort. The places is creepy as hell and I doubt I'll ever go back. There was a lot of activity outside with people driving up to the building. When Jessie and I left, a cop was driving up the road towards the ward. After that we found an old burned up school that was very easy to get into and then some rusted trains. Jessie and I are now paranoid that we either got: TB, asbestos or black mold. Next time we're wearing face masks.

Jessie and I went on a little adventure Sunday to Mansfield Ohio where the movie Shawshank Redemption was filmed. It was actually shot at Ohio State Reformatory which holds tours every Sunday. It was well worth the $8. It's very interesting to see how the same rooms that were in the movie 14 years ago look like today.

I found this train on my first journey to Mudhouse. Located in Nelsonville, this train site back behind some apartment buildings. More then likely it was put there on purpose, as part of the scenic ride you can take on a less distressed train. Definitely different to any abandoned place I've been too.
They currently restore the train cars so the inventory is constantly rotating, each time I go back there are different sets of cars.

Out of all the places I’ve photographed, this old mansion is one of my favorites. The house was built in 1884 and features 3 spiral chimneys. The house had no vandalism and the brick work seemed to be in sound shape. It was locked up, but I was able to peek in the back door window. The original wood floors and victorian moldings were still in tact. There was a new shop vac in the room, which makes me think the house might be in the process of being renovated. Reminded me of the house in Fight Club.

I found the old Midway Drive-In one summer when I was out trying to get lost. Midway is located on highway 14 in Columbiana County (Ohio). I wasn't able to find any info as to when it closed or who owns it now. There are a bunch of abandoned double-wides behind the old theater. Other then the small inside of the structure, there isn't anything to explore.

The Republic Rubber Co. is located on Albert street in Youngstown Ohio. I found little info about this place. All I know is the company was founded sometime in the early 30's. The company use to produce all kinds of rubber products, from hoses to tires. They were later bought out by Goodyear. My dad told me the company closed sometime in the early 70's but on my last visit there I saw a calendar from 1990 hanging in one of the offices.
I last visited the rubber co. in October ’07 to find out that most of the buildings are being torn down due to drug dealing done on the grounds.
